The guitar neck can be pretty confusing, not to mention learning music theory and applying it to the guitar at the same time. In this lesson, I try to break down the concept of an E Natural Minor Scale and an E Minor 7 Arpeggio simply using the High E string. Mick Goodrick uses this exact concept in his book the advancing guitarist and I personally have gained a ton of information from his book.  I feel it’s much easier mentally and visually to grasp the concept of a scale or arpeggio on one string. Understanding scales and arpeggios is absolutely fundamental to growing as an improvisational musician. If you found this lesson helpful and would like to see what can happen to a scale and or arpeggio by simply changing one note please check out Lesson 5: E Phrygian and the E Minor 7 Arpeggio. Being an individual and finding your own voice is not an easy task, but it is extremely important in the world of improvisational music so please be patient and try your best to come up with your own ideas. I hope you enjoy this lesson.
